Options for Air Conditioning in Atlanta, GA

Check out some of the air conditioning options below and give us a call if you have any questions or are interested in scheduling AC installation.

  • Central air conditioning – Probably the most common kind of air conditioning system is the central AC. If uses a series of air ducts to distribute  cool air throughout your home.
  • Heat pumps – These types of systems operate in the same way as central AC except that they can also provide heating. This is a huge advantage for homeowners that want to have their heating and AC systems in one convenient unit.
  • Ductless mini split AC – Ductless mini split air conditioners offer a number of different advantages to homeowners. Ductless mini splits don’t use ducts, which mean they avoid the energy loss that is commonly associated with systems that use ductwork. Also, ductless mini split AC’s are zoned,  which means that you can adjust the temperature in different areas of your house independently from each other.
  • High velocity – For homes that don’t have room for large, bulky ductwork, high velocity systems can sometimes be a great idea. These types of systems use small ductwork that can actually be run inside your home’s walls. Because the ducts are small and the air moves so quickly, it has less energy loss than traditional central air conditioning systems.

No matter what kind of air conditioning system you get, having it installed by a professional is one of the best things that you can do for the life of your system. Call the experts at Cool Air Mechanical for any installation services that you need.

What to Consider Prior to Your Air Conditioning Installation in Atlanta

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

There comes a time when every homeowner needs to consider installing a new air conditioning system. Increasing energy bills caused by an inefficient unit, rising frequency of repair calls and an overall inability to cool the house all signal that your old air conditioning system need to be replaced with something more up to date. Air conditioning installation in Atlanta becomes doubly important, since only a few days without an AC unit in the hot, muggy Georgia summers can be intolerable. Before you replace your existing air conditioning system, however, it pays to keep a few things in mind:

  • How big is your living space? You need to size a new air conditioning unit to make sure its output can cool your living space properly. If the AC is too small, it will struggle to adequately cool the house. If the AC is too big, it will often cycle on and off, affecting your indoor air quality in the process. Work with a professional  AC installation technician to ensure that your system  is the right size prior to the installation.
  • Does this unit match my lifestyle? AC systems feature numerous bells and whistles, some of which may fit your lifestyle more than others. For instance, if you want to vary the temperature in your home, consider installing a zone control system that lets you maintain different temperatures in different rooms. If you’re away from home for most of the day, you could select a unit with programmable thermostats that let you turn on the cool air ten minutes before you arrive.
  • Is the new unit energy efficient? You could notice a huge difference in your electrical bills if you replace an old, inefficient unit with a newer, more efficient one. Specifically, look for units featuring the Energy Star label, which have met the EPA’s strict requirements for energy efficiency. Not only will they save you money on your monthly bills, they will lessen your air conditioning unit’s impact on the environment.

At Cool Air Mechanical, we work with a wide range of system types and brands because we know our customers want a system that fits their performance and energy efficiency requirements, as well as their budgetary needs. Call us today for all of your air conditioning installation needs in Atlanta.

As its name suggests, a dual fuel system is a hybrid that combines two types of HVAC systems: an electric heat pump and a gas furnace. It is designed to meet the needs of discriminating homeowners who want a system that is flexible enough to adapt to the changing climate throughout the year. A heat pump is powered by electricity and operates much like an air conditioner does: it transfers heat from within your home into the outdoors and provides cooling. However, what makes it distinctive is its ability to provide warmth during the colder months of the year, as well. However, there is a temperature point at which your heat pump is no longer as efficient as it should be, which is why you are also equipped with a gas furnace for powerful heating when the temperature drops in your home.

There are numerous benefits to installing a dual fuel system in your home. As we already mentioned, it’s designed for customers who want to save on their long-term energy bills. You’d be surprised at how efficient a heat pump can be for the majority of the year. It can lead to substantial cuts in your energy bills, and the ability to switch to the gas furnace is always there so that you never have to sacrifice your comfort.

Call Cool Air Mechanical today. We can help you find an air conditioning installation option in Atlanta that works best for you.

Any issues with your ducts can have a serious impact on your home’s comfort and on your home’s efficiency. If you need any kind of duct or air conditioning repair in Atlanta, just call Cool Air Mechanical. Over the years your ducts can actually experience quite a lot of wear and tear. Here are a few common things that can cause your ducts to be damaged.

  • Poor installation – Probably the most common cause of duct repair is bad installation. If your ducts weren’t properly secured they can rub or chafe against a ceiling joist or brace which can wear holes into the ducts.

How to Tell If You Need Duct Repair

In most homes the ductwork is installed in the ceilings or under the floor which makes it difficult to tell if there are any problems with it. But there are still a few ways that you can tell if you need duct repair:

  • Hot or cold spots – If you notice that only certain parts of your house are getting cool air from your AC it could mean that there are holes and leaks in your ducts and you need them sealed.
  • Noises – Do you hear whistling, rattling, rumbling or any noises coming from your ducts? It could mean that you have cracks in your ductwork.
  • Inefficient operation – Keep an eye on your air conditioning bills. If you notice a sudden spike in your utility bill and your AC unit is functioning normally, you might have have a problem with your air ducts.

Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July!

Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013

The 4th of July will forever hold a very special place in the history of the United States of America. On this day in 1776, the second Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence.

Not only is Independence Day an important day in our nation’s history, but for many people it is a day that is filled with memories from celebrations of years past. Fireworks, barbeques, baseball games, fairs, carnivals, patriotic music and ceremonies are all scattered through our memories as we’ve participated in annual parties, get-togethers, picnics and family gatherings throughout the years. John Adams, our 2nd president, was right when he said that our Independence Day “…ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”

The 4th of July is truly a day to enjoy but also to remember and respect the sacrifice that many brave men and women made over 200 years ago to give us the freedom that we cherish today. However you celebrate Independence Day, make sure that you take a moment to remember what this day is really about.

We wish you a safe and happy 4th of July!
